Well known for its Carnival, which dates back to the Gunpowder Plot, Bridgwater is now the main hub for nearby Hinkley Point nuclear power station.  As a result the town has seen an increase in new housing.  There has also been a growth in commercial and industrial activity due to its proximity to the M5 motorway.  For nature lovers, there are plenty of green spaces and nature reserves to visit locally.
